Infrared non-destructive testing technology is a new type optical detection technology. By loading an appropriate heat disturbance or heat excitation on the target specimen and capturing the infrared radiation emitted by the surface of specimen, this technology can make an analysis for inside heat transfering process, and can detect internal structural defects and damage. Because of its advantages of wide application, fast detection, large detection area, explicitness and flexibility, it is widely used in many industrial fields.Thermal barrier coating (TBC) is a kind of ceramic layer which is made on the surface of the mechanical components, and it is used for heat insulation on base material. It has the characteristics of high melting point, chemical stability and low thermal conductivity. The insulation effect to the substrate material by thermal barrier coating often ensure the normal operation of the machine, so the testing of thermal barrier coating’s condition has important value in industrial production.This paper proposes a scheme for monitoring the condition of thermal barrier coatings loaded thermal cycle by using Infrared nondestructive testing technology. By capturing infrared radiation from coating surface which is loaded thermal cycle, damage condition analysis can be made. The monitoring mainly depends on infrared radiation difference on coating surface which is in the cooling state to evaluate the adhesion betweeen the coating and the substrate. Analysis theory of image data has real-time visual inspection, heat flux vector analysis and image difference method.This research acquire a large number of image data through the static TBC testing machine, the analysis achieve the prediction and evaluation for coating damage condition and damage trend. Besides, an imaging acquisition system is designed for dynamic testing with Labview virtual instrument technology.The research result in this paper can provide a reference for further research on TBC production and testing.
