Abstract/Summary:
The Ming Dynasty attached great importance to the horse breeding. There weremany departments. The rulers established relevant systems of horse which forbreeding and for spare. In the period of Hongwu, the folk had bred horses forgovernment, and in the period of Yongle, the horse-breeding was divided two ways--by the folk and by the military. In the army, this duty were completed by soldiers.And the civil had two styles. One way was deposit the horses in the capital, the otherway was for horse-multiply. The criteria of horse assigned was in accordance with thefamily as a unit, according to the population, and in accordance with the rebellion.The horse-breeding area for the government were Shandong Province, Hebei Province,Henan Province and south of the Yangtze River in Ming Dynasty. The people ofbreeding horses for the government had made great contributions for the country. Butthey were very hard in the process of breeding horses, besides, they beared heavyexploitation of the rulers. The people were not happy to undertake this duty, and evenarmed resistance, which was also a threat to the rule of the Ming Dynastygovernment.
