It is a very important livelihood issue for medical and health service which involves people’s health and lives. However, commercial bribe in the field of drug purchases and sales is becoming a more and more serious problem with high incidence in recent years. Such commercial bribes in pharmaceutical sales have caused multiple serious social problems, such as, poor professional ethic among medical professionals, abnormally high medication prices partly leading to high expenses in medical services, unfair competitions in the market, unhealthy medical and health industrial system and strong contradictions between doctors and patients. Thus, preventing bribes in pharmaceutical sales is a emergent issue which is a systematic management, requiring joint efforts from government, pharmaceutical enterprises, medical institutions and medical professionals. In this article, after analyzing the records of commercial bribes in pharmaceutical sales in last decade in Guangdong Province, we summarized the features of this kind of bribes, including bribing steps, forms, harm and causes, and provided policy suggestions to build up effective long term management system in future to prevent such bribes from the very beginning.
