From a geopolitical standpoint, marine factors cannot be ignored. and the ocean plays anincreasingly important role in the international arena today. Australia’s geographical locationis unique.It is a typical ocean country, which locates between the Indian Ocean and the PacificOcean, surrounded by sea in all directions. Marine security is an important part of Australia’snational security. Australia was a British colony. Historically, Australia has very close ties inits political, economic, social and even diplomatic relations with the European and Americancountries. But from the perspective of geopolitics, in spatial position, facing each other acrossthe sea and the distance of the closest with Australia is undoubtedly the Asia-pacific,especially the various countries in southeast Asia. From a geopolitical security viewpoint,Australia and the Asia-pacific region, especially the relationship with Southeast Asiancountries is the foundation of its national security.After the Cold war, the international configuration changed dramatically. The Australianmaritime defense policy with its growing economic and military power is becoming more andmore developed under the new international security situation. It gradually developed into aclear ocean security strategy. And Australia got more effective measures in its strategic target,strategic measures and so on.Strategies are aimed at realizing the interests of the state essentially. Australia’s maritimestrategy positioning is: basing on the US-Australia military alliance, strengthen theconstruction of Marine power including the navy and actively participate in multilateral orbilateral security cooperation in Asia-pacific defense mechanisms, use APEC and ARF asplatforms, maintain the relative military superiority in the south Pacific region to ensure thatnational defense security and economic security, become the south Pacific especially theinfluential regional marine power in the Asia-pacific region. Australia’s maritime safetystrategy contains a deeper level of Australia’s national strategic interests which is to gainmarine rights and to achieve military power and naval power.From the perspective of geopolitics, Australia is at an important location of the Pacific Ocean. It happens to be a Marine powers strategic containment in the forefront of theEurasian continental power. Historically, countries such as Britain and the United States haveused Australia’s strategic position during its war time with China. During the cold war, theUnited States and Australia, New Zealand, signed the Anzus Treaty. It strengthened the UnitedStates in a great extent to control the Asia-pacific strategic encirclement of China. Because ofAustralia’s special geopolitical location and economic development potential, it has becomethe new focus of its strategic planning of China’s surrounding.This article chose Australia’s maritime safety strategy as the subject matter for thefollowing reasons. Firstly, in the current international politics stage, marine competition hasbecome the focus of countries to fight for national rights. The situation has becomeincreasingly fierce. Secondly, from the perspective of geopolitics, Australia’s internationalstrategy has noticeable influence. Particularly, Australia is located in China in the region ofthe southeastern peripheral extended upward, an ally of America, Australia, for China’sgood-neighborly friendship and peripheral also has a more profound impact on theimplementation of the strategy.Thirdly, as a sea power country, Australia’s national securitydefense spending has been continuously increased. In addition, United States, Japan, andAustralia form a security group, China’s security situation can be seen as a real threat.Through the study of Australian maritime strategy, this article aims to analyze the influence toChina security and possible effective measures that can be take.
