On Mao Zedong’s Views On Women And Its Realistic Significance

In the eighteen Party Congress report, there is explicitly pointed that: we should “persistin the equality of men and women, which is the basic policy of our state; we should protectwomen and children’s legal rights", this is the first time that our party write this content intothe report of the congress of party representatives. Women’s issues has always been a bigproblem to the social development of China. In the process of socialist construction andreform, Chinese women play a important role as a half of the sky. Mao Zedong attaches greatimportance to the liberation of women and women’s vital role in the revolution andconstruction. Mao Zedong’s view on women is an important part of Mao Zedong thought, itwas formed, combining the Marxist theory with the Chinese women’s movement, in theprocess of answering and solving how women to obtain the independence and liberation in thesemi-colonial and semi-feudal China. Under the guidance of Mao Zedong thought on women,Chinese women’s political, economic, and social status has been an unprecedented increase,women’s movement in China has achieved unprecedented development. Today, however, inreal life, the phenomenon of inequality between men and women can be seen frequently, thusresearches Mao Zedong’s view on women more further and regards it as the theoreticalguidance is particularly urgent and important to protect the legal rights and interests ofwomen more effectively, to stimulate their enthusiasm of the construction and reform, tosolve the existing women’s problems. This paper examines the ideological origin of MaoZedong’s view on women comprehensively, which is initial stage of Chinese women’sliberation thoughts, and the important theoretical source, Marxist theory of women, and itsinfluence on Mao Zedong. Then the thesis discusses the social background and main contentof Mao Zedong’s view on women systematically, and analyzes, combining with the currentsocial reality, the realistic guiding significance of Mao Zedong’s view on women for theprotection of women’s rights and interests, and inspiration the enthusiasm of women toparticipate in the construction reform, in order to in-depth the study of Mao Zedong’s view onwomen, and do some help to the effective solution of women’s issues existing in the society.
