Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory since ancient times. TheTaiwan issue is China’ civil war legacy, but it has a complicated internationalbackground. The United States is involved in Taiwan issue most, while Japanesefactor on the situation in the Taiwan Strait cannot be ignored. After the end of theCold War, the international situation has had the tremendous change, the Taiwan issueunceasingly move towards the complication, Japanese factor is prominent day by dayin Taiwan issue. The development of Japan’ Taiwan policy plays a very important rolein cross–strait relations. Based on this, the paper studies the impact of Japan’s Taiwanpolicy on cross–strait relations since the Cold War, emphasizing the word “impact”. Ihope to make a useful contribution to the reunification of the motherland.This paper is composed of four parts:Part I, the paper discusses the formation of Cold War pattern on the impact ofcross–strait relations concisely, mainly including the formation of Cold War pattern,the formation of cross–strait relations, the formation of Cold War pattern on theimpact of cross–strait relations.PartⅡ, the paper focuses on Japan’s Taiwan policy on the impact of cross–straitrelations during the Cold War. This period is divided into two stages. That is beforethe establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, and after theestablishment of diplomatic relations between China and Japan we can analyze thestatus of cross–strait relations through the changes of the Japan’ Taiwan policy.PartⅢ, the paper analyzes the adjustments of the Japan’ Taiwan policy after theend of the Cold War on the impact of cross–strait relations from international anddomestic point.Part IV predicts the tendency of the Japan’ Taiwan policy and the influencetoward cross-strait relations in the future on the basis of first three parts, especially theadjustments of the Japan’ Taiwan policy after the end of Cold War.
