Mao Zedong is the initiator and practicer for Marxism-Leninism in China. Inthe process of practicing and promoting it, he absorbs the thought on root ofcorruption in Marx and Engel’s exposition about the special relationship betweencountry and class, which provides scientifically analytical method and accuratethinking pattern for Mao to think about and cognize issue on corruption in oldChinese society. The scientific theory system of Marxism includes lots of thoughts on honestgovernment, of which, especially in the statement of scientific socialism, the root ofcorruption is revealed by Marx and Angel on the perspective of relationship betweencountry and class, and clean government system in political administration isexplained in the exposition on the relationship between country and class. Based onthis theory, Lenin perceives that ideological and political education withincommunist party is an important measure to guard against leading party cadres’corruption and degeneration. Mao’s opinion on combination of paying moreattention to strengthening ideological education and setting up regulations representsthat the thought of combating corruption and building a clean government in Lenin’sthought of clean government has been inherited and developed. As one the leaders of communist party and our country, Mao Zedong assertsideological and political education should be enhanced all the time and the build-upof a clean government should be strengthened. The style of work really adapted toChina’s actual conditions should be developed and asserted. At the same time, in theprocess of building up a clean government, the party members and cadres should beeducated to resist “sugar-coated bullets” and try their best to serve people throughattitude toward work of setting themselves examples to others persistently andworking style of strictly administering the party perseverely. In currently new historical conditions, with the rapid development of economy, living standard is rising dramatically, the party members and cadres still should trytheir best to set examples of plain living and hard work even further, keeping up thefine tradition to attempt to build up a clean government persistently, which not onlyhelps to diminish corruption, but also help our country achieve a brilliant fruit ofdevelopment in this specifically historical period. Mao’s thought of building up aclean government still possesses powerfully practicability and pertinency at thepresent time.
