Guo Xiaodong is a fruitful author of fiction, whose works are such a powerful finale toeducated youth literature. The nature of Guo Xiaodong’s novel breaths the live temperature ofhimself, owing to his love of nature. So the landscape descriptions have their own specialcolors. The nature in his novel is not rigid scenery but an actor with his own personality andemotion.Firstly, Guo Xiaodong shapes a humanized nature, who has living soul and the mostshining part of human nature, which are tenacious vitality and free will.Secondly, the arthormolds a deific nature, which is above us and is looked up by us,because it has the mystery andwisdom of almighty god.Because of endogenous life consciousness,Guo Xiaodong coatsnature with a strong color of life, for this artistic effect by the writing of lookinginward.Sea,the forest and the river are the main environments in Guo Xiaodong’sfictions, where he lived. The writing of looking inward can lead to feeling-realization andpersonalized artistic effects,so the symbolic significances of the three natural images arecharacterized by individuality.First of all,the sea, where Guo Xiaodong spent hischildhood,is suffused with significances of freedom and ideal. Then, the forest, where he is overhis educated youth career, witness the evil,at the same time,it is the place of spirit redemption. At last, the prototype of the river in his novels is the brooks of Guangzhou City.It is filledwith tender feeling and philosophy of the city, carrying the memory of the city.GuoXiaodong has the transcendentalist view of nature, providing ideological support for hislandscape description. The nature consciousness of Guo Xiaodong, influencedby reasons of the times and his personal factors as well, has the model significance to realworld.
