The main purpose of this thesis is to analyze the virtual space of spiritual homeland of Jiang Yun.The current academic research status of Jiang Yun’s works, including the research about the spiritual homeland is summarized in the introduction of this thesis. The word spiritual homeland is defined in this part.The body part of this thesis falls into three chapters. The first chapter introduces Jiang Yun and her works, analyzing her complex attitude to Kaifeng and Taiyuan (including Luoyang, her mother’s hometown), pointing out the relationship between the spiritual homeland and her attitude towards homelands.In the second chapter, spiritual homeland’s construction and form are analyzed from the mountains and forests in which males and females with healthy and lively natural humanity. The folk elements in Jiang Yun’s novels such as ceremonies and legends are also described in this part.The third chapter points out that the classicism identified by Jiang Yun should be defined as tradition and the human beings in Jiang Yun’s novels are full with energy. The females, especially the mothers, reflect the characteristic of bisexual writing. The last part of this chapter discusses Jiang Yun’s criticism and attitude to city which is an opposite aesthetic space to her spiritual homeland.The conclusion generalizes the main point of view of this thesis and points out the shortcomings in it.
