With the rapid development of our economy, more foreign enterprises invest inChina, seeking for cooperation. Global communications have become frequent. Thispaper is a report on a business negotiation on my consecutive interpreting practice fora potential cooperation on uranium mining and metallurgy project between the FourthInstitute of Nuclear Engineering and SNC-LAVALIN.This paper consists of five parts. The first chapter briefly introduces the taskbackground, details and working requirements. The second chapter illustratespre-interpreting preparations. According to time order and function, I divide it intotwo phases, including early-stage preparations and temporary preparations. The thirdchapter presents interpreting process consisting of coping strategies of emergency andpost-interpreting proceedings. The fourth chapter analyses examples in this practicebased on different interpreting strategies. The last chapter makes a summary on thispractice experience. Through the task, I am deeply aware of the importance ofpre-interpreting preparations. Finally is the prospect for my future career as aninterpreter.
