Alai’s Settled and Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury has many similarities, suchas the same narrative, both modeled on the home theme, rich local color, blurred senseof time and space as well as approach of stream of consciousness, so that some peoplethink that Alai’s Settled is actually the imitation of Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury.This paper attempts to depart from the perspective of comparative literary variation,combine with the general literature theory of inter-civilization, adopt the method oftext analysis and discussion, in recognizing the fact that Alai’s Settled is influenced byWilliam Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury, focusing on the heterogeneity of Alai’sSettled, to reveal that Alai’s literature is mainly come from his own unique experienceof life and culture, and to cause people’s attention to elucidate and dialogue of inter-civilization,to open the interactive of Chinese and Western civilizations. This paper isdivided into five parts:Introductory part is divided into four sections. Section one “Research status athome and abroad”, mainly analyzes the study situation of this research topic at homeand abroad;Section two “The Origin and Meaning of this Paper”, mainly discussesthe reasons and meaning of writing this paper;Section three “Interpretation of RelatedTheory”, mainly elaborates Cao Shunqing’s variation theory of comparativeliterature;Section four “Writing Ideas and Structure”, analyzes the specific layoutstructure of this paper.Chapter I, The Homology and Commonality of Settled and The Sound and theFury, is divided into three sections, mainly from the traditional perspective ofinfluence and parallel study, to sort and summarize the similarity of Settled and TheSound and the Fury, from two aspects, namely,“The Decline of the Kingdom”,“Fuchsia Perspective” and “Philosophical Thinking and Humanity of Settled and TheSound and the Fury, to analyze the influence of The Sound and the Fury on Settledfrom the empirical point of view.Chapter II, The Variability of Settled, mainly from two aspects, namely,“The Interpretation of the Revenge Motif” and “Description of National Cultural Practices”,to analyze the unique civilization of snowy plateau and the culture of Tibetan Bonculture, which gave birth to the unique cultural perspective and his Tibetan feelings,to explore the inevitability of native and independent civilization on Alai’sheterogeneity and uniqueness.Chapter III, The Heterogeneity of Settled, mainly from the perspective ofcomparative literary variation, adopt the theory of “cultural filtering” mechanism toexplore the contributed role of Alai’s unique Tibetan identity and national culture geneon the variability and heterogeneity of Settled. This chapter is divided into twosections: Section One, The “Multi-angle” of The Sound and the Fury and the MagicalNarrative of Settled, to compare and analyze Alai’s different artistic characteristicsfrom the narrative pattern; Section Two, The Being and Time of The Sound and theFury and Settled, to explore the unique deserted Arab ideology and nationalintrospection of Alai from the subject of presence and time.Conclusion part is mainly to summarize and outline the homology, variability,heterogeneity and complementarity of Settled and The Sound and the Fury. Throughempirical analysis and affirmation of the influence of The Sound and the Fury onSettled at the same time, to elaborate the heterogeneity of Settled under the authorAlai’s unique life experiences and the national culture, and to propose that, towardthis heterogeneity, we should recognize the important value of exist of theheterogeneity, to reach mutual understanding and complementarity in the wholedialogue, thus to contribute to the formation of new literary quality and promote thedevelopment of world literature.
