The Culture Study Of Longhui Huayao Folk Songs In Hunan Province

"Huayao", is an old branch of the Yao race, whose name came from its unique clothing. They habituated mainly in Huxing Mountain, Hunan Province, China. Inherited their ancestors’ traditions and culture, they are known as romantic, mysterious and hardworking. The ballad of Huayao, representing not only the everyday life of Huayao people but also the past histories of the race, is now becoming a mirror of their entire race. Wisdom of the Huayao race tells that people should eat for good health, and sing for kindness. It has become a well-known fact that in the Huayao town, everybody could sing and their songs originate from their daily lives. The Huayao ballad, being recorded into intangible cultural heritage of Shaoyao City with regards to its history and consistency being kept through centuries, shown a great value for research.To better excavate and transmit it, the author wrote this article, through field visits and interviews with solid analysis and summary. The article is consisted of three parts, introduction, main body and conclusion. It begins with introducing the significance of the subject, research content, current research trends and methods of the Huayao Ballad. The main body of this article first introduced the cultural and historical background of the Ballad. Then categorized the ballad based on their original form of performance and melody characteristics. After which the author summarized the cultural characteristics of the music upon its content, melody and rhythm, and offered its own opinion over the singing skills. Finally the author narrates the cultural value of the ballad, with its thinking over how to protect and inherit it. The conclusion re-established the points being made by the author during its composition of this article and expressed thanks to author’s teachers and classmates as well as those who have helped it in the process.Excavate and research on the value of Huayao ballad not only offers the reader with more thorough understanding of the ballad, but also draws public attention and protection of the valuable heritage.
