The Method Of The Image Appropriation In Chinese Contemporary Art

In the postmodern period, the method of misappropriation is becoming more and more popular. Different from the elite and minority culture,misappropriation use its own way to enlightening the public’s wisdom. Misappropriated is more than just finding new meaning, but also show the criticism to the traditional art works. In this process,the artist contact the current culture to the individual life. Useing the form by popular culture or the ready-made objects to re-creation, and thus expressed their ulterior motives to the art and cultural issues.The paper compares the different between misappropriation and other techniques in the postmodern art,analysis the strategies and the reason by the development from modernism to post-modernism,explores the development of misapproriation in china combined with china’s statement.The thesis is divided into four parts:Part Ⅰ:Useing philosophy, art history and aesthetic theory to analyze the resulting of appropriation in academic way, and compared the appropriation with other concepts like:plagiarism、imitation and replication,and also combing the misappropriation’s categories.Part Ⅱ:Analysis the creative approach of misappropriation with three kinds of relationship to classic art:to subvert the traditional, to activation the traditional,to construct the new ideas.Part Ⅲ:Combing the development of misappropriation in modernism and post-modernism in the art history,and then analyzed the development of misappropriation in the Chinese context by China’s contemporary artists.Part Ⅳ:Exposing the harm side caused by negative use of misappropriation and affirmed the role of misappropriation in promoting Chinese contemporary art and its aesthetic value by combine the local artistsIn short, the paper seeks to clarify that:as one of the important creative approach in contemporary art, misappropriation promote the development of Chinese contemporary art, it is a symbol of multiculturalism and creative freedom.
