| "Post-Modern" ideas which are adapted to the post-industrial era are produced inwestern capitalist countries in the1960s. Fusion of "Post-Modern" and popularculture produced Postmodern Film. In the global context of complex cultural field anddiscursive field, a group of Chinese new generation filmmakers emerged. Under theinheritance and critique of the "fifth generation" films, they were eager to break thetraditional classics and chose Postmodern Film spontaneously and communicatedwith western postmodern culture. These filmmakers are called "sixth generation".This thesis focuses on the Lou Ye’s films which are with "post-modern" style. Theform background of contemporary "post-modern" features is revealed. A Film imagepractice of Lou Ye’ film is analyzed. Chinese cinema future trends and tendencies inthe context of post-modern are concluded. Artistic value and social significance thatmovie should have are also demonstrated.Firstly, the origin and main features of post-modern art are explained. Movie isthen introduced as a post-modern characteristic of art. While the post-modern thoughtcame to China,"Chinese strategy" of post-modern movie and post-modern tendenciesof Lou Ye and other "Sixth Generation" directors under its influence are explored.Secondly, based on the analysis of the characteristics of post-modern cinema,video innovation of Lou Ye’s films is mined. The narrative style, the film structure,the choice of character perspective, the establishment of new scene imagery, theunique expression of the lens and fragmented patchwork of post-editing are discussedto sum up the post-modern performance of Lou Ye’s image practice.Thirdly, by the analysis of post-modern image factors in Lou Ye’s films, LouYe’s perception of real life in the post-modern context is discussed. Youth culture andmeaning of life which the movie conveyed were searched.Finally, based on the above analysis of the overall image of Lou Ye, China filmfuture trends and tendencies are summarized. His films contributed to thepost-modern spirit heritage. Thereby artistic value and social significance that movieshould have are demonstrated. Post-modern characteristics in Lou Ye’s film were analyzed in the thesis and theChinese practice of post-modern film were summarized and rethought. Lou’s filmwith blurred image were interpreted and judged clearly. Image with "Lou’s styleâ€attempted to interpret the Chinese marginal culture and expressed underlying realityof Chinese society.
