In recent years, the creation of local theme film and televisionplay gradually presents a prosperous tendency, and different regionsof works contend with each other in beauty and fascination on screenwhich take different aesthetic feelings to the masses. Relying on itsadvantages in quantity and quality, Shanxi theme film and televisionplay also have achieved new breakthroughs among them. Especiallyin the current years, a large number of Shanxi theme film andtelevision plays have raised a nationwide "Shanxi cultural hot". Aseries of excellent works such as Xiaowu, Platform, Courtyard ofFamily Qiao, Going North of the Gate, The Story of Xi Gengtian, TheEighth Route Army, Lvliang Heroes, The Sprit of Sword, Empire ofSilver have made its mark of "Shanxi theme" popularly andcontributed to the construction of the film and television culture, theregional culture and the national culture. It provided the premise andcondition of research that is the aesthetic characteristics of Shanxitheme film and television play.Although the academic research on Shanxi theme film andtelevision play had appeared earlier, according to the data which Icollected, most of the research results can be seen in papers. On theobject of study, most of scholars mainly research a work or the same type of works on television or film. The research perspectivesconcentrated in the work content, character image, artistic style,cultural spirit or extended on film and television industry, cultureindustry, tourism or other angles. Therefore, researching Shanxitheme film and television play systematically and comprehensively inaesthetic perspective is sill in the blank. Shanxi unique regionalfeatures determines the specificity and diversity of the form of filmand television play, and through the analysis of its aesthetic features,we can more intuitively grasp the characteristics of Shanxi culture. Inthis paper, through the study of aesthetic style and value, combiningwith the political, economic, social, cultural and other factorsexplores the aesthetic and cultural significance of Shanxi theme filmand television play, and reflects on the problems. Thus the paperanalyses the role of local theme film and television plays in thedevelopment of Chinese film and television play in order to provide thecertain reference value to Shanxi local culture construction and theChinese film and television culture construction. Including theintroduction, the paper is divided into four parts to be discussed.The introduction mainly includes the significance and the scopeof this research, and it organizes the related research data at homeand abroad to explain the framework and the innovation points of thepaper.The thesis includes three parts.The first part for the main part of this paper mainly discusses theaesthetic characteristics of Shanxi theme film and television play:First of all, the paper makes a brief introduction of thedevelopment in Shanxi theme film and television play from the late 1920s to the new century. And it is divided into Shanxi merchants,rural subjects, Anti-Japanese War, and other themes in series with thecriteria of culturology. Secondly, the paper discusses the "mainmelody" narrative theme of Shanxi theme film and television play andits aesthetic expression. Finally, the paper explores its aestheticcharacteristics in the form of the art from the frame and lenses, colorand sound.The second part reflects the deficiencies of Shanxi theme filmand television play: Some works embodies Shanxi local cultureinadequately, portrays character atypically and has the imbalancebetween politics and art.The third part analyzes the local theme film and television playacts on the development of Chinese film and television play. Based onthe research of the aesthetic characteristics of Shanxi theme filmand television play, the author found that the local theme plays anindispensable role in riching Chinese film and television play themetype, meeting the demand of the public aesthetic and making thenational characteristics and national style of Chinese film andtelevision play.
