Emperor Taitsung of Tang, Li Shimin is ingenious and brilliant. He is adistinguished statesman and strategist in Chinese feudal society. Previous scholarspay more attention to his political and military talents. If you turned the eyes, you willfind his outstanding talent in the field of literature is also impressive.This article is intended to explore the poetry value of emperor Taitsung of Tangfrom poetic thought, poetry creation, status and influence comprehensive.First I will discuss about the poetic thought of emperor Taitsung of Tang. Hispoetic thought in summary is that culture is equal to quality and everything centers inelegance. On the creative approach, emperor Taitsung of Tang requires that we shouldlearn from the ancient in order to make every effort to change today. As the creativebody, he requires the virtue and emphasizes the importance of the author’s moralcultivation. On the ideological content, he requires the article reflect fine wishes inorder to correct common feelings. In the writing style, he requests the straight text andopposes flashy style. On the artistic features, he requires deep and elegant words andfocuses on the aesthetic characteristics of poetry. On the reality function of the work,he requests it should be good to the governance conducive to long-term stability offeudal rule. On the aesthetic ideal, he requires it should present the beauty of peaceand achieve the harmony of nature and man.Secondly I will talk about the poetry creation of emperor Taitsung of Tang. Hispoetry can be divided into five categories. They are wishes telling poetry, frontierexpedition poetry, scenery chanting poetry, people missing poetry and court lifepoetry. These poems have a certain artistic tendencies as a whole. In general, firstlyhe takes the antithesis, emphasizes the rules of tonal pattern, uses the literaryreference and centers on elegance. Secondly they are fresh and meticulous, bold andenergetic. Thirdly it is started in attaching great importance to lyrical. The problem ofemperor Taitsung of Tang and palace poetry is the focus of some scholars in theirdebate. In this chapter, I will also talk about some plain view. Finally I will discuss about the status and influence of emperor Taitsung ofTang’s poetries. I am going to discuss about two aspects. One of the effects is hispoetic thought and the other is his special imperial identity. I will strive to makeobjective, fair and comprehensive evaluation on emperor Taitsung of Tang’s poetries.Any poet’s creation is inseparable from the specific historical environment at thattime and all specific environment also has certain limitations. So we should not be toohard on the ancient. We should face and accept them with an inclusive and broadheart.
