| This study takes a minimal pair, traditionally were named as "Yin" and "Yang", respectively in Whenzhou dialect as object, using acoustic and perception task as the main method for our research. On the basis of acoustic measurements and statistical analysis, we design some perceptual experiments, which include identification and discrimination task to the FO continuum, and those perception task is the focus of our study. We hope that though this task to investigate the role these parameters play and finally we summarize distinctive features of initial stops acoustically and perceptually. This paper also insist that physiology, acoustics and perception should be all considered in phoneme classification, otherwise it’s hardly to answer the qustion of Whenzhou dialect only though acoustics aspect. This study, espically the study of perception, fills in the blank in the research of initial stops in Wenzhou dialect and even the dialects study of our nation, providing new method and idea for the dialect studying. This paper includes6chapters as follows:Chapter1clarifies our aim, significance and research background of this reseach, reviewing related reseach history. We believe that the problems and deficiencies rest in inadequate comparison of this minimal pair. Then we put foward our exprimental design and the structure of this parper at last.Chapter2is an acoustic research of the "Yin-yang" confrontation of Wenzhou dialect. In this chapter, we introduce the method, process and result analysis for acoustic study. Research results show that the acoustic performance in that minimal pair in wenzhou dialect have two aspects, one is the FO patterns, the second is phonation types.Chapter3is the design of our perception task. In this chaper, we shows the production method of experiment stimuli, the experimental scheme of identification task and the discrimination task, the result of the perception experiment, and the data analysis method.Chapter4is a experimental results of our perceptual research. The results show that the following conclusions. First, FO pattern is the cue for listeners to distinguish "yin" and "yang", but this is not the only clue obviously. Second, FO continuum in terms of "Yin-yang" confrontation in Whenzhou dialect is uncategorical perception. Last, we can inferre that the differnt phonation types in Wenzhou dialect also affect the listeners’perception of confrontation of Yin and Yang.In Chapter5, we try to through that these three aspects, the basic principle of physical and aerodynamics, the basic principle of phonology, and an extreme theory assumes, to indirectly proves that the phonation types plays a main role in the Whenzhouese perception. Its seems to the different phonation typs effect on "Yin-yang" confrontation in wenzhou dialect is more than the influence of F0patterns. And demonstrate the possibility of the existence of such phonetic phenomena and rationality. In addition, that extreme theoretical assumptions, which used in the indirect proof of theoretical assumptions and mathematical proof method, is the first in this paper. Finally, this chapter puts forward a presumption of Yin-yang confrontation in development of Chinese, for later studies to prove or disprove. For the full text of the summary, chapter6summarizes the acoustic and perception research results. Morover, in this chapter, we summarizes the shortage of the researchthis, and puts forward the direction of Chinese dialect tone perception study. |
