Although the war has its political, religious, racialist reasons, or the aim of pursuit the benefits, even it takes the winning of righteousnessas excuse, all wars share one thing in common---they are at the expense of life destruction. But the reality won’t change because of the so-called "righteousnessas". During the two world wars, the vicissitudes of life, the death and damage caused by the war provided the artists endless inspiration to create their works. The war changed the world pattern, it also stimulated the artists’s creativity simultaneously. Many military paintings were produced to the reflect the violence and justice, evil and humanitarian, hate and love, life and death of reality, and recall the past to explore the human nature and sympathy.The painting of Soviet Russia enjoy great popularity, thereinto, the military paintings are the mian component due to its quatity and quality. These artistic works which both contian the great aesthetic value and power of touching fully express the unique "Russian characteristics" through the war theme. The humanitarian characteristic of the Soviet Russia panitings is not only an artistic issue but also is the issue that we can’t ignore.This thesis is mainly devoted to the humanitarian study of Russian military-themed paintings. By analyzing the religious believe and national traditions of Russian people, pursuing of the humanitarian origin and transition in Russian military paintings, the author tries to present the unique manifestation of humanism and particular expresses the features in Russian military paintings. In chapter Ⅲ, the author analyzes the modality and the characteristic of the humanitarian of the Soviet Russia panitings. In chapter Ⅳ, the author explores the relationship between war and love, as well as war and peace on the basis of analyzing the parodox of the culture involved in the paintings. In the last chapter, the author discusses the inspiration for the modern arttists, and ponits out the future of military paintings. We can better inspire the creation of the similar paintings in China and better explore a creative way for the development of Chinese military paintings through the study of the "Russian characteristic".
