Empirical Research On The C-E Trans-editing Process

News trans-editing plays an indispensible role in spreading news globally. This thesis concerning news trans-editing practice aims at probing into the actual process of trans-editing English news by the empirical research on the Author’s internship in Xinhua News Agency, Zhejiang Branch. Apart from analyzing timeliness, inverted pyramid structure and other typical features of news trans-editing by combining the theoretical and pragmatic views put forward in Translation in Global News. Besides, the thesis also demonstrated the methods of translating the headline, lead and other parts of the overall news pieces under the guidance of restructuring, omission, amplification and other trans-editing skills.Moreover, by analyzing the news trans-editing process, the Author discussed and demonstrated news trans-editors’role as gatekeepers during the pre-translation, peri-translation and post-translation process respectively.
