ZhangXu and HuaiSu are both greatly typical representatives in CrazyCursive in Tang Dynasty, and they occupied an important position in the historyof Chinese calligraphy, their style of calligraphy have a profoundly longinfluence on later generations. There are four sections in this dissertation,chapter One introduces ZhangXu and HuaiSu’s experience of their life, andcompares them with the conditions of their lifetime, experience, environmentand so on. Finally it also explains the reason why people called them “CrazyZhang and drunk Su”. Chapter two aims at discussing the visage of integrallyartistic style of the style of ZhangXu and HuaiSu’s Crazy Cursive, and thischapter compares them with the way to use writing brush, the characteristic ofstructure, the use of ink color,and the decoration of the artisticcomposition.The main purpose is to study calligraphy deeply.The mostimportant thing in the third chapter is the discussion of the social backgroundthat ZhangXu and HuaiSu lived in. I will analyze it in some aspects, such asemperor’s hobbies, the open of culture, diversified development, the educationof calligraphy in Tang Dynasty, institution of imperial examination and the rulesof beofficial. Chapter four mainly analyze the influence that the artistic styleof ZhangXu and HuaiSu’s Crazy Cursive had for later generation.
