This is a translation project report for Pulling Agriculture Innovation and theMarket Together written by Kimberly Ann Elliott in2010, a senior fellow at theCenter for Global Development (CGD) and the paper was published on its website. Itmainly mentions how to stimulate agriculture innovation in developing countries andhow innovative funding mechanisms could play a role. Based on the translation of thepaper and previous translation practice, this report discusses the difficulties andtranslation strategies illustrated with representative examples. The difficulties often liein the translation of specialized terminology, professional background knowledge andlong sentences. To solve these problems, the major strategies are dividing, assembling,conversion and amplification, etc.. Translator should also give consideration to thecontext of the source language, endeavoring to enable the target texts faithful, smooth,fluent and natural in accordance with the expressions of target languages, andmeanwhile, follow the literal style of the source language.
