| This is a translation report on Memory: A Very Short Introduction by JonathanFoster, of which Chapter3and Chapter5are the source text.With the title of Pulling the rabbit out of the hat and Memory impairment, thesource text mainly contains memory formation and memory impairment caused bythe brain damage. It provides people interested in memory functioning and memoryimprovement with practical guidance. The main contents of this report are dividedinto four parts: Part One is the translation project description, including projectbackground, objectives and significance. Part Two is the study background, includingthe theoretical basis, ie. skopostheorie, and the introduction to the source text. PartThree is about the difficulties and methods used during the translation process. Thedifficulties lie in the understanding of psychological and memory-relatedterminology. The translator needs to refer to a lot of materials to achieve accuracy.The methods used in translation include: part-of-speech adjustment,conversion,amplification and omission.
