| The present thesis concentrates on the translation of excerpts from the famous British women writer Jane Austen’s novel----Mansfield Park, which is one of her complex and mature writings. The success of this novel is not only attributed to its fascinating plot, but also its ingenious ways of expression. All of these features require the translator to retain the original flavor and artistry by taking appropriate translation strategies based upon accurately conveying the content of novel. The author conducts objective analysis on this novel with the aid of the narratology in order to understand the original author’s writing intention and artistry as much as possible. Only on the base of this, the author can faithfully and vividly represents the original content, style, aesthetic value and narrative features so as to achieve the same reading effect.The present thesis consists of five parts. At the very beginning, the task description will be offered, which involves the content, the significance and task of this research. The second part is the theory basis. The third part will focus on the analysis of task process including preparation before translation, translation process and the revision. In the fourth part, the case study will be conducted via translation practice of the author. It mainly analyzes the representation of narrative features. The last part draws a conclusion.In a word, research on the translation practice of this novel is of great practical value It is beneficial for introduction of outstanding foreign novels in China and enhancement on Chinese authors’ literary creation ability and the translator’s novel translation skills. Through this research, the author can have a deep understanding and study on Jane Austen’s writing style, and get enlightenment of literary translation which guides the author’s future novel translation practice. |
