When translators’ pre-existing knowledge doesn’t cover the requirements of theirtranslation projects, they often turn to reference resources for help on both linguistic andspecialized knowledge. The past decade saw the advent of various new forms of Internetreference resources, such as search engines, news websites, and academic databases…Internet has become of great help for translators to learn about background information, tounderstand corresponding concepts and find parallel texts. However, how to choose theright and creditable reference resources from the vast Internet remains a problem less dealtwith by professional translators.This thesis is based on various translation projects the author participated duringinternships. It has classified information requiring searching into two types: linguisticinformation and specialized information. After introducing the common types of Internetresources, the author has drew upon her own translation experiences to give severaladvices on searching and selecting Internet reference sources.Effective searching and selecting skills are vital to improve the productiveness andaccuracy of translators. It is worth for more research.
