With the gradual deepening of China’s reform and opening up, we not only want tolearn more updated foreign advanced technologies and experiences, but also need topopularize our latest achievements in the world. We must show the world of orientalcivilization while learning the western culture. The aim of international publicity is to letthe People of the outside world know a true China and to enhance the mutual trust andeliminate barriers with other countries in the world! So, publicity-oriented translationplays an more and more important role in promoting the communication between Chinaand foreign countries.There are numerous works about publicity-oriented C-E translation by the previousscholars at home so far. Among them, some works focused on studying one kind oftranslation strategy in certain field, some discussed the flexibly choosing the translationstrategies based on the Theory of Functional Equivalence or the Skopos Theory from theview of LinguisticsThe author studies the factors affected publicity-oriented C-E translation anddiscusses flexibly choosing the strategies of translation through many examples guided bythe Theory of Linguistic Adaptation from the view of pragmatics in this thesis.The author proposes that the translators at large must flexibly choose translationstrategies, like literal translation, paraphrasing, addition, omission, rewriting,domestication and foreignization while taking the factors including cultural linguistic andpolitical elements involved into consideration from the perspective of the Theory ofLinguistic Adaptation to strengthen the effect of our international publicity.
