A Study On The Special Time Adverbs In Xiangxiang Dialect

The research of time adverbs of Modern Chinese has begun long time ago, and has made substantial results, In this paper, the "exterior form-interior meaning-pragmatic value" theory by Xing Fuyi has been applied to give a detailed description of three special time adverbs, they are "γaη13d(?)13(行头)","γo33t(?)i31(下唧)’’,"γaη13khia35(防刻)”,and we also reveal the characteristic of them through the comparison of "Dialect-Modern Chinese" and "Dialect-Dialect". This thesis aims to deepen the existing research results of Modern Chinese and dig the characteristic of the special time adverbs of Xiangxiang dialect, so we can have a more impressive understanding on time adverbs of Xiangxiang Dialect.This thesis is subdivided into five parts. The first part is introduction, firstly, we introduce Xiangxiang and Xiangxiang dialect; secondly, we explain the existing research results related to the thesis; finally, we statement the significance of research, the method of research and corpus sources of this study. The second part gives a systematic study on time adverb "γaη13d(?)13(行头)", firstly, we introduce the whole usage of "γaη13d(?)13((行头)”briefly; secondly, we divide time adverb "γaη13d(?)13(行头)’’into "γaη13d(?)13(行头1)”and "γaη13d(?)13(行头2)","γaη13d(?)13(行头1)" express the time order of action,"γaη13d(?)13(行头2)”express the difference statements between before and after, and we give a detailed description and analysis about time adverb"γaη13d(?)13(行头)" through semantic and grammar; finally, we compare "γaη13d(?)13(行头1)" and Modern Chinese "xian(先)","γo13d(?)13(行头2)”and Xiangxiang dialect "khuai44(?)iu31(开首)’’, so we can deepen the understanding of its usage and reveal its characteristics. The third part gives a systematic study on time adverb "yo33t(?)i31(下唧)", firstly, we divide time adverb "γo33t(?)i31(下唧)”into "γo33t(?)i31(下唧1)”and "γo33t(?)i31(下唧2)","γo33t(?)i31(下唧1)”express time is short,"γaη33t(?)i31(下唧2)”express things happen suddenly; secondly, we give a detailed description and analysis about time adverb "γaη33t(?)i31(下唧)”through semantic, grammar and pragmatic; finally, we compare "γaη33t(?)i31(下唧1)”and Modern Chinese "mashang(马上)”,‘"γaη33t(?)i31(下唧1)”and Xiangxiang dialect "liu23(?)i31(流矢)”,"γo33t(?)i31(下唧2)”and Modern Chinese "huran(忽然)”,so we can deepen the understanding of its usage and reveal its characteristics.The forth part gives a systematic study on time adverb "γaη13khia35(防刻)”,firstly, we divide time adverb "γaη13khia35(防 刻)”into "γaη13Khia35(防刻1)”and "γaη13Khia35(防刻2)”,"γaη13Khia35(防刻1)’’express things happen frequently,"γaη13Khia35(防刻2)”express things always happen; secondly, we give a detailed description and analysis about time adverb "γaη13Khia35(防刻)”through semantic, grammar and pragmatic; finally, we compare "γaη13Khia35(防刻)”and Modern Chinese "lao(老)”,"γaη13Khia35(防刻1)”and Xiangxiang dialect "ni33daη13(链常)”,"γaη13Khia35(防刻2)”and Changsha dialect "t(?)in41ta(侭�')”, so we can deepen the understanding of its usage and reveal its characteristics. The fifth part is conclusion, we summarize our research results, then indicate the shortage of our research and the direction of effort in the future.
