This paper mainly discusses the China demand war reparations from Japan, divided into the Republic of China Government and the government of the People’s Republic of China to examine.This thesis consists of three parts, the introduction, body and conclusion.The introduction part points out the problem in this paper, the origin, selected topic significance, the research content and research methods, and summarized the research status at home and abroad.In the first chapter, I will write Nationalist Government’s War damage survey and the policy ideas for Japan claim. In the early postwar period, under the support of the U.S.Government, the attitude of the Nationalist Government for war reparations to Japan is positive. But with the Nationalist Government fled in Taiwan and the U.S.Government shift policy towards Japan, Nationalist Government’s claim becomes difficult. In order to obtain legitimate status, the Nationalist Government signed the peace treaty with Japan, and proclaims give up for war reparations to Japan until later.The second chapter is mainly about Government of People’s Republic of China. First part writes the War damage investigation of the communist party of China to the liberated areas. The second part writes the PRCC’s policy ideas for Japan claim and the efforts to participate in the peace treaty with Japan. Finally, in1972, the PRCC claim to give up war reparations requirements on Sino-Japanese Joint Statement.In the third chapter, the main content is the reason and the influence of China give up Japan’s war reparations requirement. This part is also the main content of the whole paper. I’ll write from two aspects of domestic and international, to comprehensive investigation the reasons of the Chinese failed to obtain Japan’s war reparations. And I’ll analyze the impact of China give up on Japan’s war reparations requirements from both the negative and positive aspects.In the conclusion part, it is primarily a reflection of reparations requirement, and bound form of the current Sino-Japanese relations, to analyze the practical significance of revisit the reparation issue.
