The Research Of Li E’s Literary Thought

Li E is a famous writer who has plenty of works in Qing dynasty. The current academic research of Li E focuses on the following aspects: first, the characteristics of his poetry based on a detail analysis of his poems. Second, the aesthetic style investigation of his poems with the foundation of a comprehensive grasp of basic ideas of Li E’s Ci. Third, the relationship between Li E and Zhe School with the thread of Zhe’s development. There is a larger space for the study of Li E’s literary thought.Li E’s thoughts on Literature problem are mainly reflected in his discussions on words and poetic theory, although Li E has no complete literature criticism work, he has relatively rich poetic thought which is scattered in article prefaces and some poems which is mainly focused on words. This paper is based on Li E’s poetics and the articles of word, trying to discourse his literature thinking wholly and discuss the origins and effects of his thoughts.Firstly, the history of literature on Li E is mainly from two aspects, one is his exploration of the origins of literary works which is concentrated on the origins of word and the spread of poetry. The other one is the attitude to a particular literary work on specific era. The attitude is generally expressed as the love of literature in Song dynasty,. For poem history, he attaches great importance to Song dynasty and Tang Dynasty. As for word history, he thinks Southern Song and Northern Song are equally significant. Secondly, Li E’s thought on the literature subject reflects on the author’s self-cultivation and personality. For Author’s accomplishment, Li E focuses on not only developing emotion, but also personal knowledge accomplishment. He thinks the Author’s well-educated or not significantly affects the merits of the works. In addressing the author’s personality, he insists to pursue the unity of creativity and uniqueness.Finally, Li E’s views on style mainly reflect on the explanations of "Qing"and "Ya". He talks about "Qing" by the discussion of "Qinghan" on poetry and the deepness of "Qingkong" on word. However, to pursue "Ya", he emphasizes the positive law of the contents and the harmony of rhythm. These two concepts "Qing" and "Ya" give us a whole scope on Li E’ literature views.So, Li E has unique and profound literary insights, which are logical and rational. The exploration of his literary thoughts can help us know the development of criticism literature in Qing dynasty, and then grasp the whole course of development of Chinese ancient criticism literature in general.
