This report is based on the translation of The Land of the Blue Flower, a children’sliterature by a famous American playwright and novelist, Frances Hodgson Burnett. Theauthor of this report successfully completes the translation task provided by ForeignLanguage Teaching and Research Press, under the guidance of Yan Fu’s translation theoryof “Xin-Da-Ya” put into her translation report to analyze the problems for which the authortries to come up with the solutions during translating.The report consists of five chapters: the first chapter is task description, includingtranslation project and translation requirements. The second chapter is introduction to thesource text, including writer, plot and stylistic features of the original. The third chapter isprocess description, in which Yan Fu’s translation theory of “Xin-Da-Ya” is also outlined.Case analysis, the forth chapter, is the most important one of the report. In this chapter, theauthor mainly analyzes some translation cases to illustrate how the translator applies YanFu’s theory to the translation practice at lexical, sentential, textual and rhetorical level so asto make the translation faithful to source text, target readers and literariness. The lastchapter is conclusion in which the author sums up her gains and deficiencies from thistranslation practice.
