Chen Hongshou is the Ming and Qing Dynasties figure paintingmaster, his artistic pursuit of high Gucci Hai, deformation andgrotesque style, in recent years by many scholars, as the object ofstudy is of great theoretical and practical significance. In this paper,on the basis of previous studies, explores Chen Hongshou’sbackground and his writing career, analyzed the Chen Hongshouportrait of variation of the style and spirit of the times, as well as itsinfluence on later painting, reveals the inherent relationship ChenHongshou painting art features and the late Ming society cultureassociation.Chen Hongshou’s painting his style formation is partly due to theindividual value affirmation and identity, on the other hand is socialfactors. Chen Hongshou never Shi, devoted his life to the art ofcalligraphy and painting, and it also live in a commodity economyprosperity, politics is extremely turbulent times. The figure paintingoriginated from the former generation techniques, but also theinfluence of the same generation of painters, but also from theChina folk New Year paintings, murals and art absorb nutrition, themain theme relates to celebrity sages, maid, Buddhist figures etc..The figure painting art features are: good at geometry modeling and strong head size contrast; figure painting lines round soft fold, writefreely, is high Gujun ya; the characteristics of the composition forthe combination, with appropriate reservoir. The spirit of the times,the "empty" the intellectual atmosphere, scholars give up allconfidence in oneself, advocate the pleasure principle, in-depthcivil society, objectively enriches the creation theme and realm.Yangming pop, launched in late Ming society ideologicalemancipation and personality independent trend, a great impact onthe literati. The confluence between late plaintext people elegantand popular cultures, but also have a profound effect on ChenHongshou’s figure painting. Chen Hongshou’s portrait paintingsGuzhuo both, bright, elegant, testimonies, and the integration offolk painting freehand brushwork, brought a fresh air to the lateMing and early Qing Dynasties figure painting. Chen Hongshou as aschool of figure painting, formed a writing group composed of thedisciples. The analysis of the influence of Chen Hongshou’s figurepainting, the Jiangnan region of Yangzhou eight monsters and seapainting, as well as modern art masters, such as Xie Zhiliu, FuBaoshi, Cheng Shifa and so on have great influence.In the late Ming Dynasty, commodity economy developed, multithoughts, free cultural atmosphere, the unique style of art masterslike Chen Hongshou, Chen Honghuan’s figure painting is a reflectionof the cultural and ideological trend at that time. This paper tries toexplore the reasons for the formation of Chen Hongshou’s figurepainting style from the late Ming Dynasty variation of the social andcultural background of Chen Hongshou’s figure painting, trying tounderstand the profound spirit of the times and cultural background through analysis of Chen Hongshou’s painting art.
