Changzhi is located at the “Shangdang Basin” or “Qinlu Plateau”in the south of the Taihang Moutain and the southeast of Shanxiprovince. Changzhi Urban Dialect(CUD) belongs to Shangdangdistrict of Jin Dialect, embraces both differences between the Hannationality and the Hui nationality, as well as those between the oldand the young. With research methods of description andcomparision, the present study analyzes the phonological system ofthe old from the Han nationality with data from field surveys andliterature surveys. Foucing on initials, finals and tones of CUD, it isto make a table of coordinating of the initial, final and tone andperfect the homonym table of CUD.In the field of initials, the study analyzes CUD’s18initials,makes a contrast with the mediaeval times initials and comes to aconclusion that zhi group, zhuang group and zhang group initialscoordinate with jing group hong tones, the people in this areapronouce [ts ts’s].Regard of the finals, the study analyzes CUD’s36finals’synchronic features and diachronic evolvement and comes to aconclusion that front nasal consonant [-n] disappear, the yangrhyme of the mediaeval times including xian she, shan she, dang she, jiang she come to convergence, and make shen she, zhen she, zengshe, geng she, tong she together too. All of these turn into [-], andnow these are back nasal finals.In the respect of tones, the study describes CUD’s six tones,makes a comparison with the mediaeval times tones. Based on that,the article pays more attention to the ru sheng. Through theanalysis of the vanishment of tail vowel of rushing and theappearance of tail vowel of rushing, it comes to a developtendency of ru sheng and comes to a conclusion that the ru rhyme’stail vowel will not disappear for a long time.
