| People can’t live without figures, which are frequently used in their daily lives.As an important component, figures are applied in various interpretation fields such asbusiness interpreting, conference interpreting, and diplomatic interpreting, etc. Duringthe process of both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, figure interpretingbecomes the bottleneck which affects the quality of interpreting, and it will thereforeinfluence on-site communication. However, figure interpreting, as an important areaof study, has not received enough attention till now.Due to the inherent characteristics of figure information, figure interpretationputs a lot of pressure on interpreters especially on beginners. For learners, it is still adifficulty. In, Chapter one, the thesis retrieves documents concerning figureinterpretation, including basic language characters of figures, characteristics of figureinterpretation, the particularity and difficulty of figure interpretation and thosecommonly used techniques in figure interpretation. The thesis then analyses andconcludes interpretation’s difficulties and its causes. Then it maintains that memorypsychology guides figure interpretation. As a theoretic basis, memory psychologyseems to guide learners in following memory rule and mastering basic interpretationskills. Meanwhile, the thesis points out that figure interpretation should followcognitive rules. From basic cognition to skill mastery, skill application and integrationtraining, finally a scientific training mode is formed. At last, the thesis states specifictraining methods and strategies to enhance figure interpretation level according tomemory psychology mentioned in Chapter two. |
