A Report On Interpreting The Power Of Company

The author chooses to interpret a Chinese documentary The Power of Company as the interpreting practice for graduation. The author’s interpreting skills got improved after a series of practice process, such as preparation, interpreting, proofreading and so on.The most prominent problem in practice is that the author often pauses for or gets stuck by unfamiliar words. After finishing this task, the author recorded and summarized the pauses that caused by unfamiliar words and expressions. By employing the interpretive theory, this thesis analyzed the above mentioned cases and came up with several countermeasures and suggestions to address this problem.The countermeasures can be listed as follows:1. Transforming the literary words, adding explanations for the words with culture characteristics and restructuring information and summarizing could be used during the process of deverbalization.2. Replacing the unfamiliar proper nouns with their status, replacing the unfamiliar words with hyponymy and missing the unimportant words could be employed during the process of expression.The author hopes that this report can serve as a reference in helping new learners and provide a material for researchers in this area.
