Researches On The Family Shen’s Literature Of Yongnian County In Late Ming And Early Qing Dynasty

Between the end of Ming and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, the family Shen who livedin Yongnian County of Hebei Province is a typical literature family. Under the edification andinfluence of the family’s tradition, many literati emerged from the clan and got someachievements. The most successful one is Shen Hanguang. This thesis centers on ShenHanguang’s literature and studys the Shen family’s literature both from macroscopic andmicrocosmic aspects.The thesis includes three chapters:The first chapter studys The family Shen’s poetry which is the most outstanding amongtheir works. First, the author collects the poets and their poems, giving a brief account of theirown characteristics. Then he probes the family Shen’s poetry and the artistic feature. At last,the author discusses the accomplishment of Shen Hanguang’s own poetry theory and givessome comments on his poetry theory from two points.The second chapter discusses The family Shen’s essays. The Shens’ essays have alreadyknown to some scholars both at home and abroad. This chapter emphasizes on ShenHanguang’s essays which are representative works of their family. Firstly according to thecontent, classifies his essays and analyzes their distinguishing feature, and then analyzes thereason why he wrote so many essays. Lastly the author explores the spreading and receivingof Shen Hanguang’s eassys in the literature history.The third chapter studys the literature phenomenon of the Shens between the end ofMing and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, then explores the causation of the emergence andprosperity of the family Shen’s literature mainly from the background of the times, districtfeature, family influence and contacts. Furthermore, the author seeks the profound ideologyfactors though the literature phenomenon.Appendix1: The suspicion on the ‘YiMin’ identity of Shen Hanguang. At present mostscholars consider Shen Hanguang as a ‘Yi Min’ and many literary documents even record himas a ‘Typical Yi Min’. However, noticed the Shen’s words and deeds, he don’t match theconcept of a ‘Yi Min’ after consulting historical documents.Appendix2: Collection. In the process of research, the author finds a paper of Songwan,three papers of Shen Hanguang and makes a discrimination and preliminary appraisement ona poem which seems to be written by Shen Hanguang.Appendix3: About the author of tongjianpingyu, Many ancient books confusing it andmost people didn’t go to survey. I tried to demonstrate that it’s author is Shen Hanfen but notShen Hanyu.
