Looking from east to west can bring their own civilization development of culture andforeign culture assimilation what make people change the material world and spiritual worldinto the fast pace of modern life style. Nantong traditional blue printed cloth and Jiaodongpaper-cut are parts of Chinese traditional folk culture. They are also in the part of the nationalnon-material cultural heritage. Although the two art forms belong to different regions anddifferent styles, each has its own characteristics. They are carved art (clear said that is hollowout art)under the influence of the ancient folk art forms. They come from the same root andhave a long history, unique style, and it is most close to each other on the carving processmodeling according to the regions. They are valuable property that our ancestors gave us. It isthe essence that is worthy inheriting and carrying forward for us.Based on the reference methods, such as survey method, inductive method, interviewrecords, physical analysis and other research methods, I made an overview from Nantongtraditional blue printed cloth and Jiaodong paper-cut’s regionalism, historical and culturalbackground, origin and development, then drawed a conclusion that is different areas, time,historical and cultural background of homologous art forms’ development has distinguishingfeature, and they can not exist without a specific environment. Then on both thecharacteristics of comparative analysis, I found the similarities, differences and the causes oftheir characteristics in Nantong traditional blue printed cloth’s print edition and Jiaodongpaper-cut’s tools, affected by religional culture, color, pattern(subject matter, composition of apicture, sculpture, technology, modelling, moral, artistic and cultural connotation),in order tolet more people understand the two ancient folk manual arts and understand the developmentof China’s cultural life from orign to the major time during the changing process and theirchange process, then realize that the two kinds of arts should learn from each other and do acomplement for each other. Then the paper introduces the heritage and development of thestatus both of them. The current overall situation is well, but better heritage and developmentneed a few generations’ continuous efforts to send out an enduring charm of culturre and arts.Finally, synthesize the front of the analysis and research, from the aspects of apparel, dressand home decoration to show both research and application.Through the study of this article to reach the purpose including cademic exchanges,inheritance and development of China’s intangible cultural heritage, and promotion of thedevelopment of garment industry. How to make the two elements (Nantong traditional blueprinted cloth’s print edition and Jiaodong paper-cut) of Chinese traditional folk ancient cleverfusion, and doesn’t destroy the essence of the tradition as to apply them to today’s life withrapid development, fashion and personality. Combined with modern design to do redesign hasa certain practical significance. I hope that the research, design and practice of this article canprovide other designers theoretical basis and inspiration for the application and research.
