| Mo Yan’s novel has a characteristic feature of special style and glorious language, which attractedthe whole world’s attention. The important stylistic feature reflected in his novels is Cross-style.He used the specific writing skills which embedded in other types of style in the novel, alternatedand leapfrogged with other types of novels in order to realize the mixture with other stylistic formsand breakthrough the conventional styles of novel as well as the specific boundaries of variousstyles, and bring aesthetic orgasm from the Cross-style in the cross-references of different writingstyles and various colloquial styles. In this article, I mainly studied from several aspects ofCross-style in Mo Yan’s novel, such as the performance, generation, and effects and also analyzedand investigated the Cross-style feature carefully and systematically, which is aimed to deeplyunderstand and explain the performance and effects of Cross-style in his novel, intending todeeply reading it.The paper falls into three parts excluding the introduction, main body and conclusion. Introductionmainly states the precise meaning of style, Cross-style concept, analyzes the Cross-style featuresand makes the appropriate literature review. Main body consists of three chapters. The firstchapter describes the performance of Cross-style feature, analyzing from the alternates of literarygenre and the mixture of colloquial styles. The alternate of literary genre mainly reflects in aspectssuch as drama, poetry, prose and letters. Other writing styles are used to insert in the novel and thenovel text mixed with other stylistic styles in order to achieve the performance of Cross-stylefeature. In terms of colloquial styles, I mainly analyze the mixture of colloquial styles in Mo Yan’snovel and comprehensively summarize the Cross-style feature. The second chapter mainly studiesthe generation cause of Cross-style feature in Mo Yan’s novels, analyzing from these three aspects:the eventful folk life, the stylistic innovation consciousness and free spirit of literary creation.Firstly, I pay close attention to his literary creation influence brought from the eventful folk lifeand analyze the origins of Cross-style feature and the novel creation influence from folk culture.Secondly, I analyze Mo Yan’s fanatical passion of his consciously novel style innovationexpressing the profound connotations of novels. Meanwhile, Mo Yan pursued the freedom of creative spirit. Analyzing the origins of writing styles creation, we could find that the creation ofMo Yan’s novels precisely depend on this pursuit of freedom spirit. By studying the effects ofCross-style feature in Mo Yan’s novel, the third chapter gives the explanations of carnivalesquestyle, strangeness effects,multiple narrative function and multiple aesthetic performance function.For carnivalesque style: firstly, the carnival style highlighted in the writing ways of cross-style.Secondly, carnival of literature reveals a deep sense of human nature by analyzing the cross-style.For strangeness effects, I firstly analyze that Mo Yan wrote using the slang dialect to make thestrangeness of literary language. Secondly, Mo Yan likely used rhetoric figure to make thestrangeness of literary language. Besides, Mo Yan mixed the self-made language and thedeformation of language to create the strangeness effects. For multiple narrative functions, Ichiefly analyze the condition that Cross-style writing skill adds the multiple narrative timesresulting in the multiple narrative function. Furthermore, Cross-style writing skill makes the soundmultiplex in novels; For aesthetic performance function, I analyze the literary aesthetic spacingfunction in Mo Yan’s Cross-style writing and the addition of aesthetic intention connotation of theLiterary language caused by the sensuous literary language rhythm and also analyze the state thatMo Yan used the tautology sentence to emphasize and express. In view of these analyses, we geta comprehensive interpretation for the functions of cross-style in Mo Yan’s novels. The conclusionmainly elaborates the limitations of writing ways with Cross-style feature of Mo Yan’s novel. |
