Independent colleges have experienced rapid growth in recent years, and the learning status of the students in independent colleges has caused wide concern. With profound researches, people find that independent college students do not know how to employ proper learning strategies and are lacking of adequate competence to study autonomously. Therefore, it is indispensable to collect data and probe into the practical use of English learning strategies for English majors in independent college, and conduct learning strategy training to them based on the investigation. The study is to be helpful for independent college students to improve the use of learning strategies, to enhance the learning effect and cultivate the autonomous learning ability. The study is also beneficial for English teachers in independent college to identify their teaching roles and modify their teaching methods. The author adopts the method of questionnaire survey and takes the first-year English majors as the research subjects. All the data are analyzed by SPSS19.0. The pre-questionnaire survey and the post-questionnaire survey are compared to find out the training effect, so are the pre-test and the post-test. According to the results of the study, the author concludes that training for LLS effectively helps English majors in independent college to properly use LLS, cultivates their learning autonomy and improves their learning achievements.
