On The Quotations In Cao Pi’s Poems

In this paper, the literary quotations in the poems of Cao Pi (曹丕) were identified and their origins were explored. Then, the context and skills behind these quotations were studied and discussed. The whole passage was divided into3parts-part Ⅰ generalized the achievement and spread of Cao’s poems as well as the past studies of the quotations in his poems. The paper also expounded the theories and approaches adopted in the study; part II gave a clear picture of the context within which these quotations were used with respects to era and personal factors. Next, this paper analyzed the skills Cao used to create the poems according to3major composing approaches including narration, metaphor and narration of the others to bring in association with the target (赋、比、兴). Finally, the conclusions were made.
