In an age when nothing is possible without access to internet, especially translation, itis the obligation for Translation Studies to make an in-depth theoretical analysis, on thebasis of an objective description, of the new translation phenomenon—"cyber translation".However, such efforts were quite few in Chinese Translation Studies, who harbors thedeep-rooted belief that internet, only as a useful means for improving the efficiency andquality of translation, has nothing to do with theoretical studies. In an effort to conduct atheoretical study in the new translation phenomenon, this article, based on a case study ofthe translation of On China in Tianya Forum, studies using hyper-text theories the new"multiple-dimension spheres of expression" following the translation "main text" that canbe used for anyone to insert background information, discuss with others on the translation, and create a virtual world using multimoding means of expression. The article holds that these "multiple-dimensioned spheres of expression" is asindispensible as the translation "main text" itself, both of which have its unique functionsand should be considered as integral parts of a larger whole—a hyper-text translation, anew form of translation in the cyber space, which represents not only the development oftechnologies, but also the liberation of human beings’ thinking as well as the actualizationof the potentials of print media texts, such as intertexuality, intersubjectivity, andinterbody-subjectivity.In response to the three functions of the "multiple-dimensioned spheres ofexpression", the body of the article can be divided into3parts, all of which share the samepattern of "introduction-description-analysis-implications". For each part, the first sectionputs up a topic by stating its practical significance, the second section describes one aspectof the phenomenon, the third section analyze the rational basis of it, and the last sectionpoints out its implications on Translation Studies.
