The Research On The Health Development Of Charity Ethics In Modern China

Charity is a primary symbol of the human society civilization andthe progress of the history. It represents a simple love consciousness andethos between the members of the society. There is a saying that whentrouble occurs at one spot, help comes from all quarters. As an importantmeans of regulating social wealth redistribution, philanthropy has playeda huge role in narrowing wealth gap, alleviating social conflicts, securingsocial justice, and promoting social harmony. It is in modern Chinawhere natural disasters frequently occur, gap between rich and poorkeeps deepen, and the number of vulnerable groups increase which needphilanthropy deadly.The essence of charity is ethics, which is a voluntary ethicalbehavior with ideality. Under the background of coexistence ofmulti-cultures in contemporary China, diversity should be respected andvariety should be tolerated in the correct direction for the charity ethics.Behind the conflicts between ideal and reality in charity ethics, there areprofound cultural reasons. China must boldly borrow and absorb theworthy charitable conception in the development of human civilization,develop the national spirit of kindheartedness, then promote traditionalcharity ethics to the modern society charity ethics. In modern China,although philanthropy has achieved some progress in some degree, thereare still some issues existent such as the lack of awareness, organizationdysfunction, and inadequate guarantee, which is arise by the reason ofvarious problems concerning traditional Chinese ideas, charityorganizations’credibility, government roles, and laws and regulations,etc. Based on the conception of charity ethics, this paper has analyzedthe ethical essence and the motivation of charitable giving. Then theauthor discussed the reason caused by these present problems. The authorbelieves that in order to enhance charity ethics construction incontemporary China and realize the unity between ideal and reality, itmust take views of wealth and life as the breakthrough, honesty as thekey, and respect of personality as the premise.The foundation of Contemporary Chinese charity ethics must pursuethe ideal target based on the reality, and keep a correct direction. In orderto establish abundant social roots, we must avoid alienation, and absorbthe diversity of charity ethics at the same time. The core of the wholepaper is investigating the problem about developing and understandingChinese charity ethics correctly, in order to support the development ofcharity programs.
