Modern layout design, as one of the key components of visual design, largelyinfluences the trend of modern graphic design and also represents the characterless ofmodern graphic design. Currently in China, layout design often fails to stand out inthe field of artistic design across the globe, due to the lack of history and the nation’scharacteristics. It is well worth thinking and exploring that how to perfectly joinunique Chinese traditional arts which has hundreds of years of history and the westernmodern arts, and thus incorporate them into the Chinese graphic design.Over a long period of evolution, the proposition of the traditional Chinese arttheory has been gradually formed with the characteristics of this nation. One of themost essential elements of the Chinese art theory is "vividness", which has beeninfluencing the Chinese art throughout it’s long journey of development andinnovation. In some sense, it plays a critical role in exploring and defining thestandard of beauty. What "vividness" promotes is to appreciate the Chinese art fromwithin. In the view of traditional arts it is the core trigger of aesthetic emotions. Therefore, to improve the level of China’s modern layout design, create the uniquedesign with Chinese traditional art and local style, we must draw nutrients in theocean of Chinese painting and calligraphy. We need to grasp the art of composition, endless momentum and the beauty of neutralization. Then to apply these conceptsnaturally in the modern layout design, and make it have a deeper connotation andexpress more cultural and artistic qualities, so as to create the layout design withunique Chinese cultural qualities."Vividness" in Chinese painting is often referred to intepret modern graphicdesign so as to add more local elements to it. It is not difficult to see that both Chinesearts and modern graphic design exist in common in terms of aesthetic intepretationand presentation. All in all, not only should we learn from international graphic design, but also explore the potential of our own for artistic design. Only in this way, graphicdesign with Chinese characteristics will evolve.
