Identity is both a signage a symbol applied to distinguish differences in individualsin social reactions. Once being confirmed, it will correspondingly establish a relationshipwith other people, and to some extent make identification of the society oneself lives in.The concept of Identify has exerted an influence on the method of planning andorganizing the future by human beings. Along with the development of globalization, theissue of identification has increasingly drawn attention of people. Hong Kong society hascontinuously and considerably troubled by the problem of identification for a long time,historically due to the over100years’ British colonial rule. Hong Kong people hold anambiguous attitude towards their colonized identity. On one hand, they actuallyrecognized the prosperity brought by the colonization and even had a superiority complexderived from this. On the other hand, they did not dare to express in public, because ofbeing sensitive and the fear of ‘political incorrect’. Return means that Hong Kong, thefloating city without nationality, finally found the land to grow. However, the culturalgaps and differences in ideology and language system between Hong Kong and Chinamainland after the Return cannot be completely eliminated. Therefore, attitude of HongKong people towards their identification was once full of doubt and anxiety. Nevertheless,in line with the rapid development of Chinese economy and full support of centralgovernment for Hong Kong, the identification of both homeland and Hong Kong peoplefrom Hong Kong compatriots has silently transformed in recent years.As the mirror image of real life and carrier of mass culture, drama could encodemainstream ideology and sense of worth in its video text, in support of integration ofhistory and reality, in order to reveal some realistic issues. Through questionnaire method,this study reasonably selected20drama texts as research objects, and carried outnarratology analysis for each one. Taking consideration of the specific examples ofidentification issues in Hong Kong realistic theme dramas, and employing theoriesrelated to identification, this paper discussed the diversity of identity and transformationof identification,, summarized some laws and predict some trends, in order to extend knowledge about Hong Kong society and relative phenomenon. It is especially valuableto consider about these under the current situation that identification problems have beenmore noticeable.
