Speaking of Chinese painting, literati painting seem to be a topic which cannot toabandon, the history of Chinese painting almost can be summed up as a history ofliterati painting, history of painting and theory of painting in all ages’ were all havedifferent degrees of contact with literati painting. Chinese painting can be said to be amicrocosm of Chinese culture, includes the rich philosophy spirit connotations of theChinese. Therefore, literati painting were both an art and embodiment of personifiedand show of comprehensive qualification, analyses and explain the essence elementsof the literati ink and wash painting’ forms, factors of cracking, make good use of ourpredecessors left us with this precious cultural heritage, And look for a referencevalue to the contemporary Chinese ink and wash painting. There is no doubt adifficult, arduous and responsible task, but it is very necessary and which is today’sCollege education missing. Therefore, rediscover the literati painting tradition’s form,undoubtedly has a profound significance for today’s Chinese painting teaching of andcreation.The painting’s Chapter one had a simple description: to build a precise definitionof the literati painting is difficult. Firstly, literati painting have a certain integrity andcomplexity. Secondly, because the background is different, after development of manydynasties and literati painting’s characteristics in each era is different, it is a dynamicsystem, and therefore cannot simply give one definition to literati painting. Finally,sort out literati painting’s development in history and the most typical features, fromthe "Express Emotion by Portraying Image of Objects "and "Portray for Express theMeaning" to shows the profound cultural connotation in literati painting, andintroduced the features of picture form in literati painting. In chapter II, analyses of"The New Literati Painting" background and the inheritance and rebellious of thetraditional literati painting, Because of new literati painting’s complexity of their owngroups, and its diversity in drawing subject and aesthetic orientation, resulting inpeople cannot to recognize correctly. In chapter III, rediscover to traditional teaching and learning methods, analysis of the features of College art education and lack ofculture, with an indication of the basic teaching method of Chinese ink and washpainting is "Copying" as well as the literati’s tradition of enlightenment values tocollege education. Then stand in today’s College education angle, to explore what rolethe literati painting in the contemporary Western education system should play. Inchapter IV, describes to made a good foundation of Chinese ink and wash paintingrequires at least the following three points:1, to the master and understand the form ofink and wash painting with《Catalog of Chinese Painting》as an example2, due to theconnection of Chinese calligraphy and painting, so it is necessary to strengthen thecalligraphic practice.3, culture is the soul of the Chinese painting, so it is necessary toimprove cultural recreation, combined with their own creative practice, drawing onthe essence of traditional literati painting and transform into their creation’s nutrition.
