Nowadays, English teaching changed to focus on an integrated mode of teaching thatinclude listening, speaking, reading and writing, from single ability training model.Especially listening and speaking ability attracts more attention than before as a basicability in nowadays language training. But during the training of listening and speaking inclasses, negative phenomenon appear in the whole class teaching, such as various degreesof upset, nervous, worry, etc. This makes both teachers and students feel dissatisfactory.Therefore, analyzing and increasing the efficiency of teaching process, improvingstudents’ listening and speaking ability becomes an important problem in English teachingwhich need an urgent solution.This case bases on Gudykunst’s AUM and analyses the students’ anxiety in listeningand speaking class. The study was carried out in questionnaire, the targets are the studentsand teachers of Hebei Vocational College of Foreign Language. Then the data wascollected, and analysed. Our study focuses on the anxiety of both the teachers and thestudents in the process of listening and speaking class, the causing reasons, the solutions,and trying to improve the students’ listening and speaking ability.Through the scientific study there are following findings: in English listening andspeaking classes, both the students and the teachers are in a high anxious state, such ashigh depressive personality, low tolerance. The main reasons are group differencesbetween the teachers and the students caused by cultural environment, the students areanxious for success in their studies, but they have a weak foundation in pronunciation andretell, the teachers’ teaching method follows traditional mode; The suggest solutions aremaking good cognition and tolerance between the teachers and the students, improvingtheir communications, decreasing their differences, and strengthening students skilltraining.
