Since the1990s, TV series have become an essential part of the Chinese people’s life.According to the survey, around80%of the Chinese audiences choose TV series when theywatch TV. The Chinese audiences will spend about one hour on watching TV series which ison the top of all kinds of TV shows. The audience number of TV series reaches300millionevery day. TV series content mostly drawn from life, closely follow the operation steps ofsocial development and reflects the social mainstream ideology of that time. At the sametime, as one of the important carrier of ideological and political education in our country, TVseries also carry education function, which make people not only get huge social informationbut also accept the ideological and political education on their moral concepts.With rapid growth of economy and culture, domestic youth dramas gradually speed uptheir development steps. Since the1990s, lots of good youth dramas which are real andprofoundly reflect the value orientation, spiritual outlook and moral standards of the youthhave been made. Youth drama, as a kind of mass media tools, shows social phenomenon,events and existing problems that are transmitted to the young people by deduction, producesa kind of spiritual communication and diffusion effect. Therefore, the youth drama will affectthe young people’s judgment of community and the formation of their values.Young people are the future of the motherland and the hope of the nation, so the youthdrama will play a more important role in the development of the TV series. This paper willfind out the problems of youth values in youth drama in the past20years, and summarize thesuccessful experience of drama of the United States, Japan and South Korea. In the end, thispaper will make four recommendations on the development of domestic youth drama. Thefirst point is to adhere to the guidance of the socialist core value system and enrich thecontent of youth drama. The second point is to strengthen youth moral education andpromote the development of youth drama. The third point is to train outstanding idols to givefull idol social influence. The last point is to learn the advanced experience of foreign TVseries to improve the level of domestic youth drama. According to these methods, the youth drama will play the role of ideological education, guidance, consolidation, andre-shape the values of contemporary youth.
