The Horses Materials In Chinese Northwestern Bamboo Slips

This thesis is foundation on the literatures and materials of China in ancienttimes.By sorting out systematically information about horses bamboo slips in thenorthwestern of China and basing on the experts and scholars in this field to researchand inquire some questions about horses in the northwestern bamboo slips.This thesis consists of four parts：The first part is the introduction which points out writing background，purposeand significance and summarizes the current situations of the related study.The second part is to classify the horses in the northwestern bamboo slips.According to the following three aspects：the differences among the color of thehorse，height，age and gender；the diversity of ownerships；the functions of horses.The third part is to analyze and summarize the reasons of horses managementbusiness in the Western Han Dynasty. To analyze the reasons from five factors：thenatural environment，military needs，transportation，social economy and polices inthat times.In the fourth part，it will analyze and sum up the management measures onhorses in the northwestern bamboo slips.Horses information has been recorded in the northwestern bamboo slips，reflecting an phenomenon that the Western Han Dynasty has laid much emphasis onthe horses and formed a rather complete horse management system. On the one hand，it has increased the number of horses，and promoted the scale of horses keepingbusiness；on the other hand，it has made great contributions to protecting the frontierdefense security.
