| With the growing international influence of China, Chinese learning isbecoming popular in the worldwide scale. More and more international studentschoose to come to China to learn Chinese and experience Chinese culture. Thepurpose of this research is to know the condition of educational adaptation of centralAsian students in China, and find out problems that existed in it.118central Asianstudents from Xinjiang Normal University were chosen as respondents to doquestionnaire survey, and23of them were personally interviewed. Under thetheoretical guidance of pedagogy, psychology and intercultural communication, thestudy focused on the educational life of central Asian students in China, discussedthe overall level and the differences of their educational adaptation. Meanwhile, howsocial support, study motivation, social and cultural activities affected theiradaptation were discussed as well. Influencing factors were also studied. Suggestionsthat can improve their educational adaptation were given in the end.This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction. Itdescribes the background, purpose, significance and design of this research. Thesecond chapter is literature review. It introduces the core concepts and theoreticalanalysis of the educational adaptation, elaborates research status at home and abroadof international students’ educational adaptation. The third chapter is survey resultsand analysis. It has five aspects-overall level of central Asian students’ educationaladaptation, demography characteristic, study motivation, social support, social andcultural activities. The fourth chapter is the factors that effect educational adaptation.It analyses mainly from three levels-school, students and interaction. The fifthchapter is conclusion and recommendation. For the problems that have been found,advices to educational management of school and to central Asian studentsthemselves are presented.Findings of this research are as follows. First, the difficulty level of centralAsian students’ educational adaptation in China is moderate in general. Thedifferences of age, study time and study identity have significant impact on centralAsian students’ educational adaptation. Second, family, relatives, friends and Chineseteachers are important sources of central Asian students’ social support. Third, thestronger study motive and the higher degree of participation of social and culturalactivities are, the less difficulties of educational adaptation students will suffer.Fourth, the factors that effect educational adaptation are mainly from three levels-school, students and interaction. In the end, for the problems that have been found,advices to educational management of school and to central Asian studentsthemselves are presented. Also, issues needed to be further explored in the future areproposed as well. |
