Hanshiwaizhuan And The Ancient Narrative Literature

The Hanshiwaizhuan is the only relatively complete text, which was passed by the threepoetry families from Han dynasty. As time moves forward, the predecessors’ perspectives ofliterary studies about the Hanshiwaizhuan is gradually broadened. Based on the predecessors’studies, this thesis attempts to enrich the research about Hanshiwaizhuan. This thesis includesthree parts:Part one: Analysis of the nature of interpreting The Book of Poetry in the Hanshiwaizhuan.It is a controversial topic to discuss the writing purpose of Hanshiwaizhuan in the academiccircle. In this thesis, Hanshiwaizhuan is regarded as a masterpiece about the analysis of thenature of interpreting The Book of Poetry. In this part, compared with Qi, Lu,and Mao Shi,the author has obtained strong evidence about the poetic flavor in the Hanshiwaizhuan.Besides, the author has also established the nature of interpreting The Book of Poetry in theHanshiwaizhuan through the predecessors’ studies.Part two: Discussion on the interpretation of The Book of Poetry in the Hanshiwaizhuan.The Hanshiwaizhuan explains the deep meaning of The Book of Poetry. Not only does ithave the original interpretation of the original text, but also it has the different translation.This part focuses on the analysis of direct and indirect explanation.Part three: Comparison between the Hanshiwaizhuan and other narrative literature worksin or before Han Dynasty. Firstly, it is the comparison of Junzi’s standards between theHanshiwaizhuan and Zuozhuan. Secondly, comparison of the femininity figures between theHanshiwaizhuan and Lienvzhuan. Thirdly, it is comparison of stories of life and deathbetween the Hanshiwaizhuan and Liexianzhuan. Through the comparison between theHanshiwaizhuan and other related content from Zuozhuan, Lienvzhuan and Liexianzhuan,this thesis explains the Hanshiwaizhuan has an effect on other narrative literature works in orbefore Han Dynasty.
