Since Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga published in2005they’re popularizingin the teenager girl readers all around the world. Whereas traditional vampire novelsdepicted vampires as outsiders who threat the society,vampires in Twilight integratetheir lives into mainstream society and the human heroine wants to be like them.This thesis will explore the complex relationship between male and femaleprotagonists and how to achieve conservative value by heroine’s marriage,motherhood and domesticity.This thesis includes four parts. The first part contains the introduction and thebackground of Twilight Saga. They are Stephenie Meyer and Mormonism, literaryreferences, and academia critics. The second part will explore the image of vampiresin Twilight by analyzing male vampires, female vampires and the acceptance ofhuman society. The third part will focus on the construction of masculinities andfemininities in Twilight, and how they embody the metaphor of “lion and lamb”. Theforth part will focus on woman’s value through female protagonist’s marriage,motherhood and domesticity.
