Digit is a special language symbols, that when human mind develops to a certain stage, it has beenproduced in order to meet the social production activities. Digit is just a mean for people to count thenumbers, it does not have any mystery and magic. However, with the development and evolution of history,the original real meaning of digit began to blur, and it began to form a unique cultural significance, andfinally, it gradually formed a digital culture. Due to the production of the digital culture, numbers areendowed with new connotation. As different ethnic groups have many differences in the geographicalenvironment, religious beliefs, national psychology, and thinking mode, their attitude towards digit isdifferent. This paper is based on the digit, has researched differences between Chinese and western nationaldigital culture, and the causes of the differences, it has also studied the application of digit in interculturalcommunication; hopefully it may provide reference data for further research.This paper is divided into three chapters,The introduction part wrote the significance of the topic and the current situation;The first chapter mainly introduces the definition of digit and the digital culture, and also discusses theapplication of digit in intercultural communication based on the research of the digital idioms;The second chapter is the core content of this paper, it mainly discusses the differences betweenChinese and western national digital culture through studies of four aspects: the digital cultural connotation,religious myths, people’s attitude towards digit, digital representation methods, besides, it also analyzes thereasons for the differences of Chinese and Western Digit based on the study of influence from religion,myths and legends, national culture, psychology, way of thinking to digit;The third chapter discusses the characteristics of digital word in the teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage based on the research on the characteristics of the digital word, and also introduces the method ofdigital word teaching;This paper fully demonstrated the differences between Chinese and western national digital culture, and the causes of the differences, and combines the digit and cross-culture, so as to do my part for theteaching research on digital word of Chinese as a foreign language.
